I was once pretty good with a camera, not just a good eye but technically proficient. Too many point and shoot cameras, too little attention and I seemed to have misplaced a lot of this knowledge.
Over the last couple of weeks I have been playing around with my new Nikon D200 and relearning a lot of what I forgot or got use to not thinking about. The D200 is a very sophisticated camera, more so than my dear departed Canon 20D. Controls are better laid out and there is more flexibility without going to the menus or switching modes. Last weekend I played around with depth of field. Here are a couple of shots taken by our koi pond. This dragonfly spends all day by the pond, you can recognize him by the junk stuck to his wing
The differance is amazing and I had all but forgitten to control this variable, as well as many others. It's fun to get back to honing these skills.
Or maybe not.
Its not often that you see an 866 help number on the outside of the box... now I know why, but of course they are not open on the weekend.
Just a few simple adjustments...
Now let's see, find the "NG Orafices" (could I make this up?) Where oh where are the oradfices? If you can't find the orifices be sure to call the 866 number... oh no why would a BBQ company have support on the weekend. 1 hour later:
Ok now, where did I leave those 7mm and 9mm socket wrenches? 9mm... no that doesn't fit..10mm no... 11mm no... 12mm,OK just a little mistake. 7mm... no that doesn't fit, 8mm no... 6mm OK ... just a little mistake... not. Another hour passes
Did we say 10mm wrench? Well 13mm is close, no?
Cotter pin? Wheres the cotter pin? Oh there is no cotter pin... another hour
OK, last step, just adjust the screw... what screw, where? I can't see a thing. Well that was a fun Saturday!
Sunday... the rest should be easy
Well if I had the hands of an infant...
And one word in this manual was true...
Two screws... no four screws.. two on the BBQ and 2 on the bracket...
It goes on like this for a few more hours but finally..
I can see the holyland!
What's one thing that you'd like to get done this weekend? Is there anything holding you back?
I need to assemble and install my new BBQ. Only my need for sleep is holding me back.
